Course Descriptions

All of our language courses are structured to incorporate conversation, comprehension, reading, vocabulary enrichment, and grammar along with other activities. 

The program consists of three main levels of instruction and is designed to enhance the student's ability to communicate in all life situations, and particularly in a work environment, and with colleagues worldwide. 

LANGUAGES

We offer courses in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Instruction in other languages available upon request.

Beginner

Designed for students who are new to the language. The basic rules of grammar are taught with special emphasis placed on vocabulary and speech through a variety of pedagogical techniques. The student is provided with support and professional guidance to begin speaking the language as quickly as possible. A student's learning style, as well as his or her specific needs and interests are incorporated into the curriculum - not only for beginners, but for all levels. 

Beginner Levels

Beginner 1: This level is designed for students who are new to the language with an emphasis on simple phrases, vocabulary and grammar basics. The goal is to develop confidence in basic communication.

Beginner 2: This level is a bit more advanced, but at a pace that will allow the student to learn and maintain simple conversation, and confidently learn to use new conjugated verbs.

Intermediate

The Intermediate level focuses on pronunciation and listening comprehension, expands the vocabulary and improves reading skills. It introduces more elaborate structure of the language and incorporates its relevance to students' daily lives. The students will achieve a conversational level of fluency. Professional terminology is introduced. 

Intermediate Levels

Intermediate 1: Building off their already acquired conversational level, students in intermediate 1 will increase their communication skills by having a natural conversation on various subjects and reading different material, such as articles in magazines or online. These subjects can be of personal, business or cultural interest, depending on need.

Intermediate 2: At this level, students  focus on effectively structuring sentences that will help them to write in their new language. Detailed grammar exercises will be integrated into the curriculum. 

Advanced

The advanced level increases language skills in a variety of ways. At the advanced level, emphasis is placed on making the student fluent in the language. The conversational aspect of the language is enhanced while perfecting elements of grammar and pronunciation. Students build confidence in their communication skills and develop intercultural understanding through commonly used expressions and local customs. Professional terminology is also taught.

Advanced Levels 

Advanced 1: At the advanced level, emphasis is placed on student fluency. Students participate in a series of activities and exercises that enhance their language skills, vocabulary (including phrasal verbs and idioms) and, most importantly, pronunciation. Professional fluency is enriched.

Advanced 2: At the most advanced level, emphasis is placed on further development of fluency, reduction of errors and building confidence. Increased practice of communication skills, receptive (listening and reading) as well as productive (speaking and writing) are reinforced. At this level, students can focus on correcting recurrent errors. By now, students are confident in using their new language skills and will be able to understand sophisticated literature and conversation, both professional and informal.
